Boucla Kafenion
This middle-eastern-style café is pretty much a big deal here in Perth. It's this famous must-see spot in Subiaco (my friend's words, verbatim, are "it's one of the most beautiful cafés you'll ever see...") and sure enough, I wasn't disappointed. You actually feel as if you're in Morocco!
The physical space of the place was pretty tight and you had to maneuver around to dodge the other tables, but it definitely added to its fast-paced and vivacious atmosphere. My friends and I settled into a spot hidden in the corner of the café, where colourful glass lamps hung from the intricate wooden-framed roof, pouring sunlight around us; bespeckled benches and pillows with tassles and sequins became our seats; and richly-carved silver tables held our delicious food... Ah, the food. It was delicious! I went during breakfast time and ordered 'The Boucla' which is their biggest breakfast option. Yep. My friends also had soy flat-white coffees, baklava, and a pistachio-lemon-raspberry slice of cake. Everything was so great and, if you're ever in Subiaco, you must check it out.
